DRAMATIC DARTS!

Every Monday morning at 8:10, Mr O’Mahony or Miss Porter run a darts club! There are three dart boards to play on and you normally have three darts, but if you`re up for a challenge you can use only two darts. Then if you’re feeling really confident, you could try with one dart and aim to get a bullseye!!! In darts we do a couple of challenges like aiming to be the first one to reach zero from a starting number of 201, or trying to hit a 1,2,3,4,5 in that order! If you do some of these and win you will get a head teacher award sticker!
It dosen’t matter if you’re not as good as the others – you will learn just like us and now we are a lot better at it. There are about 8 of us that currently take part. Darts club is open to children in classes 3 and 4 and runs every Monday morning before School. It’s great fun and you could be the next person to join, so don’t forget to come!

Head Girl and Head Boy

Mr O’Mahony has gladly announced that the new Head Boy and Head Girl will be A.S and M.C.

They were very happy and when the results were announced in assembly, they went a bit red!!! The staff were happy as well (you could see by the look on their faces). It is a great privilage to be Head Boy and Head Girl and we hope that they will keep up the good work. They will have jobs such as taking prospective parents around the school and meeting Ofsted!!! They are now an example to the school and we all look up to them. Mr O’Mahony also thinks they are very helpful to him and the school!

Cross Country

Recently, the children in the cross country team took part in trials for the forthcoming Stockland race and most of the people who came passed the trials! Therefore they are going to run around the tricky Stockland course though the mud and water. The lucky children who got through are, K.T, O.B, S.A and C.T for the Year 5/6 girls, A.S, S.D, J.F and D.F for the Year 5/6 boys, M.C, A.G, R.R and E.B for the Year 3/4 girls and finally, T.F, T.D, E.G and F.H for the Year 3/4 boys. We wish them all the best of luck!

Sports Captains

Mr O’Mahony and the rest of the staff had a really tough decision when it came to choosing this year`s Sports Captains but finally they came down to two remarkable sportsman. Both Sports Captains were chosen because they have been excellent ambassadors for school sport in recent years. Although not the most vocal, they lead by example and always give their best. They are supportive to the younger children further down the school and have participated in a wide range of sporting clubs, showing high levels of sportsmanship. They are S. M and K.T and both are very proud of their new role!

Gruesome Graffiti!

Class 4 have started a Literacy topic on arguments, so Mrs Porter decided to do graffiti! We have only had one lesson, but we have already learned a lot. For example, one of the things we have learned about is a man called Keith Haring. He was a famous grafftist who lived from 1958 untill he died of A.I.D.S in 1988. We our going to expand our lessons from Literacy to Art as well by writing our names in graffti. Here is one of the class 4 children’s names in a graffiti style … it’s just not done by us yet! Movember

To raise money for the mens awareness, some of the dads, grandpas and Mr O’Mahony grew facial hair and they got loads of sponsorship to help raise a lot of money! At the end of the month they all walked down to the Anchor to have a drink to celebrate what they had achieved. Fotunately, they could then shave the hair away so that they were back to their normal faces at the end of the day. We dont know exactly how much they raised but we know that at the moment they have raised at least £1000. It was a great sucess, let’s hope that people keep supporting the charity for many years to come.

The Peace Child!

Come to the play that everyone is talking about! The Peace Child! It will be performed to you by Beer C of E Primary School. This is the story of two tribes in a place called Mambica. The tribes are separated by a raging river and are enemies. One day, one of the cheifs had a dream … he should give his only son to the enemy tribe as the peace child. What will happen next? What will happen on the way? You must come and find out! Tickets are now on sale in the office!

Children in need!

We had a rather spotty time on Friday, when children in need came to Beer School! We had a wonderful time making pudsy biscuits, wearing non school uniform and most importantly, pelting wet sponges at Mr O’Mahony! He was so wet his facial expression was like he had just eaten a very sour lemon! We all had such a great time and we raised a lot of money for Children in Need!

Year 6 Netball League Champions,Beer!

We have done it again we have won the league the 4th year running! Our coach, Mrs Sanders, was over the moon when she received the vital e-mail from the organiser of the leauge. We had an awesome time winning 9 out our 10 matches. Our best score for one match was 6-0 against St Marys! We are now in the County Finals but we are hoping to get past the first round, as we have never done so yet! Netball Club is open to any child in Year5 & Year6!

Clip and Climb

Class 4 went to Exeter last Monday to have an amazing time climbing up the climbing walls at clip and climb!

There was so many walls with such different designs, it was a climbers dream! There were lots of walls to pick from, from a speed climb to a spaghetti junction, it was so cool! We thought the easiest wall was the army wall. You could climb either a ladder or log with handles then once you’d finnished that, you climbed up an army net and pressed the buzzer at the top. The hardest wall was where you had two velcro hands; you climbed up the velcro wall sticking your hands to it before pressing the buzzer at the top. The coolest wall was called face to face; you climbed one side whilst another person was on the other side. You could see each other through the perspex theefore race the person on the other side to the top to press the buzzer first.

All of Class 4 had such a brilliqant time and they would love to go again. (I’m sure many birthday parties will be held there too!)
